If politicians, religious leaders, military leaders and teachers were allowed or were courageous enough to tell the truth the world would be very different. Many who tell the truth are ostracized or fired or imprisoned by the very institution they represent. Governments around the world speak through a complicated and contrived matrix of misinformation and misdirection (called political spin) which of course has kept the world at war for centuries. If truth were spoken the problems of hunger, disease, clean water and the need for healthy food would be solved. Through capitalism and corporations, and government corruption, these institutions via the patriarchy have maintained power over the masses for too long. When the truth is buried how can peace ever prevail?
Truth must be more than true or false, black or white or a purely rational and logical way of looking at things. There is much more to truth than might meet the eye. Cultivate your personal understanding of truth and include your moral compass, your compassion and greater vision for humanity while knowing that reason is the only means by which truth can be established or known. When you incorporate your whole self into determining the truth you utilize your human intellect, your rational understanding, your ever increasing knowledge and your humanity towards all life.
What follows truth is action. Truth without action is a daydream, while action without truth can be a nightmare. Mahatma Gandhi said a long time ago, “You must BE the change you want to see in the world.”
Truth is simple. Learning to hear the truth in your own life can be a great challenge. Your own thoughts may be the only battle many of you will ever fight. There are many tools available to help us learn to listen to Truth within our minds. Though Mindfulness has existed for centuries, science has finally brought it into the mainstream as a tool to quiet the mind, eliminate stress and manage the thoughts that make people victims. Instincts, inner knowing, the Truth will get you successfully through any challenge you face or decision you have to make. If you have been loved and nurtured you already know what is in your highest best interest most of the time. If you have not been loved and cared for you have a hunger for it and must always listen to your inner voice until you find it. Whether you are in the midst of your most challenging or simplest moments, Truth is all that matters. Truth doesn’t change, ever. Nature has a finite law that maintains balance and harmony. I have heard too many times ‘your truth’ and ‘my truth’ but; all are simple disguises for differing opinions. Though we are each on separate paths that may cross periodically, the truth simply IS. There is a correct action and a correct choice to make in all situations, whether personal or political. Therefore have a keen eye and an open heart. Pay attention to relationships and what goes on in your environment every day. Much can happen in a day to distort your view and conflict your truth. You never want to give in to tantrums and emotional craziness because as soon as you are overcome by drama you totally lose the ability to hear or see the truth of the problem. You cannot solve a problem at the same level that the problem exists.
You get to choose, you really do – if you listen to your own inner voice. It is absolutely true that what is in your highest best interest is always in everyone else’s highest best interest and the earth’s highest best interest and your relationships highest best interests, whether the people you are involved with are willing to admit it or not. Though people around you may resist your choice, if it is for your highest good then it is for theirs as well – if they are willing to see it. Some people in your life may want to keep you at their level of mediocrity because your success is a threat. Some people might be afraid to lose you if you rise to your best life, and it may be true that living your own true life will leave some people behind. We all choose and we have to believe that our choice matters for us.
Truth is the foundation for a fair and just society. In court, we require witnesses to swear to tell ‘the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth’, because only that way can justice be delivered. When you choose to not be honest, stress and negativity will follow. You came to this life with the best of intentions to be honest with yourself and fulfill your own purpose. What is in your truthful best interest is always in the best interest of all others in your life.
Be authentic and live your life according to measures of honesty and compassion and you will be drawn to those who believe the same.
